It’s been 30 years since A-Treat soda was available in glass bottles, but now under new ownership the popular Allentown soda can be found in four packs of nostalgia-inspired glass bottles.
After a contest last summer, when consumers were asked what flavors they would like to see make a glass-bottle comeback, four of 16 flavors were selected – Cream Soda, Sarsaparilla, Birch Beer and Black Cherry.
While the new bottles are a throwback to the bottles of yore, their design was created to reflect the old and the new.
“We updated and modernized the logo while paying homage to the history and heritage of the brand,” said Luke Jaindl, A-Treat general manager.
Four-packs of the soda are now available regionally at Link Beverage, Beerco, Simcoe Beverage, Tanczos and Cascario’s.
Jaindl said he expects they will be available by the end of the week at local Redner’s Markets and Ahart’s Markets.
The Jaindl family bought and revived the A-Treat brand in 2015 after its previous owners abruptly closed their 100-year-old Allentown bottling plant.
Since then, Jaindl has been rolling out products based largely on consumer input and polls.
