Reading’s Stevens & Lee Griffin is expanding its tax and consulting services with the acquisition of BSB Advisors, which is run by Reading-based Scott Balestrier, an accounting and tax consultant with more than 26 years’ experience.

Balestrier was the founder, president and CEO of WSB Advisors and a former Big Four tax partner with E&Y, KPMG and Andersen.

Balestrier will lead the renamed Griffin/Stevens & Lee Tax and Consulting Network, which will have offices in Reading and Philadelphia.

“The network includes high-quality boutique firms with proven track records of outstanding service and results,” Balestrier said. “In many cases, these services can be provided on a shared-value basis, providing greater benefits to our clients at reduced costs.”

Joseph M. Harenza, Stevens & Lee/Griffin chairman, commented on the acquisition.

“The network gives us the ability to provide a full range of high-end tax and nonassurance-related accounting services which we believe are similar to those provided by the Big Four, but at a fraction of the cost,” he said.

Stevens & Lee/Griffin said its platform’s multidisciplinary professionals represent clients throughout the mid-Atlantic region and across the country from 15 offices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York, Virginia, Texas and South Carolina.
