Jim began his career in the Investment Services Industry in 1978 and worked for 11 years as a licensed securities broker. In 1989 he joined Meridian Asset Management where he led the investment management function for the Philadelphia wealth management group. In 1994, he joined National Penn Bancshares and helped form National Penn Investors Trust Company, and later its affiliate Institutional Advisors, LLC.
Jim served as president and chief investment officer of both firms, overseeing all company activities, including the firm’s investment management strategies. Following the acquisition of National Penn in 2016, Jim was appointed Chief Investment Officer for BB&T Institutional Investment Advisers which delivers the former National Penn investment strategies nationwide. Jim and the primary investment management team are located in Wyomissing, PA.
A resident of Exeter Township, Berks County, Jim is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University. Professionally, he is a member of both the CFA Institute and Bond Club of Philadelphia, as well as an affiliate member of the Financial Analysts of Philadelphia. Jim’s market opinions have been quoted by The New York Times, BusinessWeek, Financial Times, CNN Money, Bloomberg, and other financial news services.
