Jaindl Farms and A-Treat, two companies owned by the Jaindl family, are teaming up this weekend to raise money to benefit victims of the recent hurricanes in Texas and Florida.

On Friday and Saturday, Jaindl Farms is opening the doors of its 3150 Coffeetown Road retail location in Orefield, with 100 percent of sales revenue going toward hurricane relief.

“We saw the devastation down in Texas and then the devastation shortly after in Florida, and you can’t help wondering what you can do to help, even in a little way,” said Luke Jaindl, general manager of A-Treat Beverage Co.

From noon-4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, anyone will be able to buy a Jaindl Farms turkey, between 10 and 16 pounds, frozen turkey breasts between 4 and 16 pounds and A-Treat soda by the case in support of the millions of Americans affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Also this weekend, Jaindl Farms will launch two new retail products at the store, turkey hot dogs and turkey lunch meat. Sales of those new items also will go to hurricane relief.

Those will eventually be available for sale in grocery stores in the region, but for now will only be available at Jaindl’s retail store.

Jaindl said he doesn’t have an exact target for what the family is hoping to raise through the sale, but hopes to raise at least “ a couple of thousand dollars.”

One-hundred percent of the sales will go to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund.
