A new bank is headed to Main Street in Bethlehem and expanding its presence in the Greater Lehigh Valley.
Univest Bank & Trust will open a location this fall at the corner of Main and Broad streets in downtown Bethlehem.
The space, about 1,700 square feet, sits next to Allied Building Corp. and previously was home to Sophistikate, a women’s clothing shop.
“It was a building that was owned by one of our customers,” said Michael Keim, president of Univest Bank & Trust, based in Souderton. “It’s consistent with having a smaller footprint for our customers and it positions ourselves well in downtown Bethlehem.”
Univest is calling it the Bethlehem Financial Center and planning for a mid-October opening, Keim said.
“It will feature our new layout,” Keim said. “It will have the same look and feel.”
The location will employ four people and, aside from being a retail branch, will offer customers the opportunity to meet with mortgage, wealth management and insurance staff.
Last December, Univest opened a financial center at Hamilton Crossings in Lower Macungie Township.
