Horsepower will have double meaning at an upcoming NASCAR race when a Bethlehem Township-based company that makes products for the equestrian and personal care markets sees its logo featured prominently on driver Derrike Cope’s car.
Straight Arrow Products Inc., makers of Mane ’n Tail shampoo and conditioners, Hoofmaker, Cowboy Magic and Mineral Ice, is partnering with Cope and Premium Motorsports to be a sponsor of the No. 55 car that Cope will race Labor Day weekend at the Bojangles’ Southern 500 Throwback Event in Darlington, S.C.
The car’s hood will be adorned with the Mane ‘n Tail logo, which includes a pair of horses in silhouette. The Straight Arrow logo will appear on the rear side panel. The car also will be painted in the product’s signature mod colors of blue, yellow, green and pink.
It is the second time Straight Arrow sponsored a car driven by Cope. In 1994, Cope drove the No. 12 Mane ’n Tail car owned by Bobby Allison Motorsports.
At Darlington Raceway, Cope will be the only driver driving his own throwback car.
“What a thrill to see Mane ’n Tail on the hood of a race car again, speeding down the track. Can’t wait to be there,” said Straight Arrow president Devon B. Katsev.
Mane ’n Tail products were originally used to groom horses but transitioned to the personal care market after owners discovered the products brought out the luster in their own hair.
