A-Treat Beverage of Orefield has announced the four flavors that will be produced in vintage-style glass bottles this summer.
A-Treat general manager Luke Jaindl said black cherry soda, old fashioned sarsaparilla, frosty cream soda and draft style birch beer were chosen after they secured the top votes out of 3,000 cast by the fans of the classic Allentown sodas.
The four winning flavors received nearly 70 percent of the votes, and Jaindl said he wasn’t surprised by the flavors the brand’s fans chose.
“These are some of our best sellers for our traditional line,” he said.
The brand’s iconic cream soda took an immediate lead in the 16-flavor online poll, he said, earning almost 900 votes in the one-month voting timeframe.
Getting fan input on where the company is going next is part of the business plan, Jaindl said of the vote.
“This really is the consumer’s company,” Jaindl said. He said the Jaindl family took over the brand to be a conduit for the fans to revive their favorite sodas after the brand shut down in early 2015 after nearly 100 years in business.
“This is how we are going to continue and trend the business in the future,” he said.
A-Treat’s other flavors will continue to be sold in cans and plastic bottles, though more flavors may be added to the vintage-style glass bottles in the future if there is demand, Jaindl said.
The selected flavors will be made with natural cane sugar formulations and be available later this summer at A-Treat retail locations.
