If work is a happy place for you, then more than likely you work for a small business.
That’s one extrapolation from the 2017 Small Business Happiness Report by Aflac, a survey that found that small-business employees are among the happiest people in the workforce.
According to the survey:
-- 84 percent of small-business employees say they are happy with their job – and nearly half of those attribute their happiness to working for a small business.
-- 67 percent of small-business employees say small businesses make them feel more appreciated when compared to working at a large company.
-- 55 percent say small businesses make them feel more productive when compared to working at a large company.
-- 54 percent say small businesses make them feel more accomplished when compared to working at a large company.
-- 52 percent say small businesses make them feel more motivated when compared to working at a large company.
Of course, the statistics also show there is room for improvement. But, on the whole, small businesses are doing fairly well with respect to employee engagement.
Aflac notes that although large companies can offer “flashy perks,” small businesses offer advantages that often can be “more lasting and influential to employee career development.
“Factors such as seeing the fruits of their labor, feeling that their input truly matters and being rewarded for their hard work were all cited by respondents as the best parts of working for a small business.”
Meanwhile, and more importantly ... it's only two more days until Friday night and the weekend.
