Easton will be getting a little louder in May in an effort to attract diners and shoppers to downtown businesses.
Starting Friday, May 26, the city is launching Easton Out Loud, a series of food, music, art and retail promotions that will continue on the fourth Friday of every month.
“Business owners have been asking to bring back a monthly series like we had a number of years ago,” said Elizabeth Wyant, manager of the Greater Easton Development Partnership. “It gets people into town to find businesses that they might not have known about before and keep them coming back.”
Wyant said the fourth Friday of the month was chosen specifically so as to not conflict with other similar event series in other area cities. Bethlehem, for example, has its South Side First Fridays on the first Friday of each month.
Wyant said organizers are still in the planning stages but plan to have music in center square, movies, games, tournaments and other activities around the downtown to provide a “something for everyone” type of atmosphere.
“There will be adult and alcohol related events at some of the downtown bars, but many of the events will be family-friendly as well,” she said.
Activities will be announced on the soon-to-be-launched website www.EastonOutLoud.com and in a monthly printed guide that will be distributed at local businesses and inserted in Easton Main Street Initiative’s Map & Guide.
An information tent will be located in the circle during each Easton Out Loud event to provide details and directions for that evening’s activities.
