Here to answer this week’s “Behind the List” questions are Michael and Ilene Stroh, owners of AlphaGraphics Lehigh Valley in downtown Allentown.

Lehigh Valley Business: How long has AlphaGraphics Lehigh Valley been operating in the region and what are its primary services?

Ilene Stroh: AlphaGraphics Lehigh Valley has been operating in the region for 27 years. We purchased the business in January 2013.

LVB: What have been some of the biggest challenges and opportunities that AlphaGraphics Lehigh Valley has encountered throughout its years in business?

Michael Stroh: Regardless of size, most businesses face many of the same challenges every day of finding business partners that you can count on and differentiating yourself. At AlphaGraphics, we take pride in establishing and nurturing relationships with our clients; we become an extension of their team offering project management and one-stop solutions.

We feel strongly that being a partner in today’s transactional world sets us apart. We are always firmly in our customer corner to complete a sign or marketing project.

In order to differentiate, keeping up with the latest technology allows us to maintain our high standards of excellence and deliver cost-effective products and services to clients.

LVB: Does AlphaGraphics provide its services solely in the Greater Lehigh Valley, or does it expand into other markets? What have been some of the company’s most notable projects completed on a local level?

Ilene Stroh: AlphaGraphics moved to the Three City Center building in downtown Allentown last year, and with the increased space is able to service the Greater Lehigh Valley and surrounding markets.

We strategically purchased the AlphaGraphics franchise servicing the Somerset County, N.J., market in 2015.

Some of our most notable projects include complete office décor solutions for Three City Center tenants; restaurant décor interior and exterior for downtown Allentown restaurants and businesses and the PPL Center; trade show solutions for large manufacturing companies; athletic branding solutions for schools and universities; direct-mail projects for nonprofits; and strong partnership with the arts community with exhibition graphics, program materials and direct-mail.

LVB: How does AlphaGraphics Lehigh Valley directly stimulate the local economy? How does it get involved with the local community?

Michael Stroh: Every AlphaGraphics is locally owned. That means a local partner who knows exactly how it feels to invest everything in a business. We’re experts at providing solutions for business needs that focus on the finest signs, print and marketing services. Solutions that help local clients get noticed and get business.

The best way to make an impact in the business is to make an impact in the community. At AlphaGraphics, we feel strongly in the need to be connected to the community and we focus our efforts in building partnerships with nonprofit organizations, providing signs and posters promoting events and serving on local community boards. Ilene is a member of the Allentown YMCA Advisory Council, a division of the Greater Valley YMCA.

LVB: What does the future look like for AlphaGraphics Lehigh Valley? Does it have plans for growth?

Ilene Stroh: The sign and graphics industry is growing and continues to be a bright spot for AlphaGraphics. We’ve added new equipment and additional staff to handle the growth.

We see the use of new technology, creative sign applications and marketing innovation helping to solidify our one-stop solution position to properly service businesses and retailers across the Lehigh Valley.
