Just because ... our annual baseball forecast.
NATIONAL LEAGUE DIVISION WINNERS
East: Called up in June, Tim Tebow hits just .203 but wills the Mets to the top.
Central: Cardinals. Meanwhile, the Cubs conclude year one of what will be a second consecutive 108-year championship drought.
West: Diamondbacks. In an unrelated note, Major League Baseball runs promotion challenging fans outside Arizona to name at least two Diamondbacks – and nobody can do it.
Wild card teams: Giants, Dodgers.
AMERICAN LEAGUE DIVISION WINNERS
East: Yankees won’t have the best record, but President Trump signs an executive order declaring them the division winner.
Central: LeBron James signs with Indians in July, gets the manager and general manager fired, critically injures four catchers in home-plate collisions and leads Cleveland to the division crown by blasting 42 home runs.
West: Mike Trout hits .417 with 94 stolen bases and in his spare time permanently resolves California’s water crisis – yet some still insist that Bryce Harper is baseball’s best player.
Wild card teams: Ah, no one cares.
WORLD SERIES WINNER
Cleveland, the new city of champions.
A NOTE ON THE PHILLIES ...
