There’s been plenty of publicity lately for driverless cars. But I can’t imagine that the government will approve them for public roads for at least a decade.
There’s too much at risk if something goes wrong.
It’s not as if it’s a TV remote control on the fritz. It’s a two-ton machine hurtling down the highway at 60 mph with people’s lives in the balance.
Everything – and that means everything – about it must be locked up and airtight. Even one car gone awry is too many.
See you in 2026. Maybe.
Last week exposed Penn State’s defensive line (young) and offensive line (just not that good) in a loss to Pitt, but the Lions showed heart in battling back.
Temple is decent, perhaps good. But this one feels like Penn State will restore order in this long-running intrastate series – after the Owls whipped the Lions last year.
Penn State 30, Temple 20.
Bonus prediction: Bears 23, Eagles 16. (If Carson Wentz beats the Bears and then the Steelers the following week, they’ll be requesting bids to sculpt his statue outside the Linc.)
RANDOM SHOTS AND SECOND THOUGHTS
-- Double the attendance: Thinking that with technology and holograms, some day every pro sports contest will be a home game. The real game will be at one venue; the virtual game will be at the visiting team’s stadium or arena.
-- Question of the day: What exactly is a publishers clearing house?
-- For the two people who asked: The Indiana Fever, has in fact, clinched a berth in the WNBA playoffs. Don't ask, however, when the playoffs begin.
