The Morning Call is reporting that its parent company, tronc Inc., formerly known as the Tribune Co., has hired a new publisher and editor-in-chief for the Allentown paper.

Robert York, an executive with the San Diego Union-Tribune, will begin Aug. 9, according to the Call.

In an article published on mcall.com, it said, “At The Morning Call, he'll be in charge of everything from advertising to finance to the newsroom.”

York, a Syracuse University alumnus, will replace Terry Rang, the Call’s associate editor who has been acting as interim publisher and editor-in-chief since Dave M. Erdman retired in May, according to the newspaper. According to the Call, Rang declined to be considered for the role.

The paper reports that he will be in town to tour the facilities this weekend. He will be the Call’s fifth publisher in the past year.
