Peach Music Festival celebrates fifth anniversary in August

- Last modified: July 7, 2016 at 2:47 PM

The past four years, Montage Mountain near Scranton has been home to the Peach Music Festival, which quickly built a strong reputation and became one of the “must attend” summer musical gatherings in the mid-Atlantic.

This year, the festival is celebrating its fifth anniversary Aug. 11-14, and the lineup is impressive.

The festival that was inspired by The Allman Brothers Band – who have since disbanded – has attracted thousands of people to northeast Pennsylvania for four days and three nights of music, art, camping and so much more.

Although The Allman Brothers Band called it quits in 2014, the festival lives on and will again cover a wide swath of the musical spectrum with its richly diverse lineup. Gregg Allman is still a festival resident who is headlining the event with his solo, self-titled band. He also is performing with the Gregg Allman Incident (with String Cheese).

Among other heavy hitters for this year’s event are Trey Anastasio Band (of Phish), The String Cheese Incident, Gov’t Mule, Umphrey’s McGee and the Claypool Lennon Delirium. The Scranton-based band, and local favorite, Cabinet, will have two sets at the festival.

The festival is set around a water park, giving off a strong family vacation vibe. It’s a family friendly event for all ages, and the case of musical talent scheduled for the weekend is enough to please even the pickiest of music lovers.

While camping is a primary option for most festival goers, there are a multitude of hotels and motels around the resort to meet your accommodation needs, no matter the budget. Information on camping passes, nearby hotels and more is listed on the festival’s website.
