Lehigh Career & Technical Institute in Schnecksville has named its new executive director.
Thomas J. “Tim” Rushton IV will replace Sandra Himes, who plans to retire this fall. She has led the school since 2012.
Rushton, who is the school’s director of career and technical education, will begin his new post Oct. 5.
“It’s the largest career and technical school in the state,” Rushton said. “It’s the pinnacle of career and technical education. As a career and technical administrator, this is as good as it gets,” he said.
Rushton was chosen by the school’s joint operating committee, which is composed of representatives from each of Lehigh County’s nine school districts.
The executive director search began in late June following the announcement of Himes’ retirement.
Rushton is a career educator. Before joining LCTI, Rushton spent three years as director of Monroe Career & Technical Institute in Bartonsville. Prior to that, he was principal and then director of Columbia-Montour Area Vocational-Technical School in Bloomsburg.
