LVEDC helps with loans to boost jobs in Northampton County

By ,

One company will be moving to a bigger location and another will be expanding as part of two of three loans that the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. said it has helped secure. The LVEDC helped to obtain loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority that total more than $3.9 million.

John Kingsley, vice president of finance for the LVEDC, said the projects combine to create an investment of $10.3 million and should create 53 jobs.

Morgan Hill Senior Living LLC in Easton was approved for $1.89 million in SBA funding for an expansion project that is expected to create 30 jobs.

Kingsley said the jobs are good-paying, quality jobs that deliver family sustaining wages.

Also receiving help is Innovative Control Systems of Wind Gap, a manufacturer of system control and point-of-sale equipment for the automated car wash industry.

That company sought to expand operations by moving its manufacturing and warehouse operations into a 19,000-square-foot facility in Palmer Township. The $550,000 in loans the company will receive will go toward a project that totals $1.1 million.

LVEDC worked with Northampton County New Jobs Corp. to administer the loan programs for the Innovative Control Systems project.

The loan is expected to help create 17 jobs.

“These two projects collectively will result in more than 45 quality jobs being created in Northampton County and will leverage more than $6 million in investment in the community. Furthermore, they will enhance our senior living assets and promote the continued development of innovative technologies in the region,” Kingsley said.

In a project outside of its normal coverage region, the LVEDC helped Nameek’s Inc. with $1.52 million in SBA loans.

That loan helped the bath-fittings distributer consolidate and move all of its operations to one facility in West Point, Pa., near Lansdale.

The LVEDC is allowed to make loans statewide through the SBA.
