A provider of clinical trial imaging solutions and a brain health company are opening office space in New Hope.
VirtualScopics Inc., a pharmaceutical firm based in Rochester, N.Y., and IXICO plc, a brain health firm headquartered in London, are jointly leasing 2,190 square feet of office space at 220 Union Square Drive.
The New Hope office will provide a base of operations for project managers to meet with clinical trial managers and business development team members to meet with new and existing clients – as well as for human resources personnel to recruit staff to support clients’ clinical trials, according to a news release.
“We are just starting the hiring process,” Eric Converse, interim CEO for VirtualScopics Inc., said this morning. “Rochester has deep roots in imaging. When pharma companies are doing their clinical trials, their imaging goes to a central site. We want to be closer to our customers.”
The location is a strategic spot within the big pharmaceutical corridor that runs through New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Converse said with the recent mergers and acquisitions that have occurred in the pharmaceutical industry in the area, a lot of talent is looking for opportunities.
“We are hoping to capitalize on that,” he said.
The Rochester headquarters will remain open, Converse said.
IXICO has a focus on Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, and the new location will allow the two companies to work closely together, giving VirtualScopics a more global presence, according to Converse.
“The culture of the two companies has been working beautifully,” he said. “The culture of the companies matches very well.”
