Based on the location of a large number of its members, People First Federal Credit Union of Allentown decided to locate a new branch in Bethlehem Township.

The branch will open in the first quarter of 2015, said Jeff Albert, president and CEO of People First.

Allied Building Corp. of Bethlehem will construct the new 5,000-square-foot single story facility, Albert said.

He did not disclose an estimated construction cost.

Albert said there are a large number of People First members in the area. The new branch will be on William Penn Highway near the intersection with Oakland Avenue. Previously, a First Valley Bank sat on the site, and most recently, it had been a Bank of America branch location.

“It is one of the few properties in Bethlehem Township still available for development,” Albert said.

Services will include a drive-up ATM and full People First services inside, with about eight full-time employees.

Thomas P. Krupa of Allentown is the architect for the project.
