‘Take the Lead’ to honor three professional women tonight

By

The Girls Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania will be honoring three women tonight in Bethlehem for their professional and community leadership.

The Take the Lead event honors women whose leadership and achievements have made the Lehigh Valley a better place, said Nancy Dischinat, executive director of the Lehigh Valley Workforce Investment Board, who is chairing this year's event.

This year's honorees are Sandra L. Bodnyk, senior executive vice president & chief risk officer of National Penn Bank; Diane D. Donaher, director of community and economic development for Northampton County; and Patricia Mullin, co-founder of Camelot for Children.

"These three women are very involved in community service, and they're role models in leadership positions," Dischinat said.

She said honoring the women shows the Girl Scouts, who are the future of the region's workforce, their potential for leadership in their chosen professions and in the community.

"The concept behind the event is to showcase that we have an interest in growing girls into women and leaders. The girls of the green become the women who earn the green," she said – referencing the color of the Girl Scouts' uniforms.

The event is at 5:30 p.m. at SteelStacks.
