After the announcement of Donald Snyder’s retirement as president of Lehigh Carbon Community College last year, the Schnecksville institution’s Board of Trustees has narrowed his replacement to one of four candidates.

The finalists:

  • Ann Bieber, interim president, LCCC.
  • Joyce Ester, former president of Kennedy-King College, City Colleges of Chicago, Chicago.
  • Doreen Larson, president, Pierpont Community and Technical College, Fairmont, West Va.
  • James Moran III, former vice chancellor for academic and student affairs for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, Harrisburg.

The process began in December — after Snyder retired – when LCCC hired Florida-based executive search firm Greenwood/Asher and Associates to conduct a comprehensive, national search for applicants.

Greenwood/Asher worked closely with the 16-member, board-appointed search committee comprised of eight trustees and Lehigh Carbon faculty, administrators, staff and community representatives to assemble a pool of qualified applicants.

The four selected candidates will be visiting LCCC next week to meet with the trustees and also with the campus community.

The goal is to have the new president on board for the fall 2014 semester.
