The operators of the soon-to-open PPL Center have announced the first event that will occur in the under-construction arena in Downtown Allentown.
The Eagles will perform Sept. 12 at the venue at the corner of Hamilton and Seventh streets.
"The Eagles are one of the biggest bands in the world, and what a terrific way to open this beautiful new facility," said Global Spectrum's Gunnar Fox, general manager of the PPL Center. "The Eagles will be the first live event in a season-long celebration of this fabulous new arena that will include concerts, sporting events, hockey games, family shows and other special events."
The PPL Center will seat more than 10,000 for concerts and more than 8,500 for Lehigh Valley Phantoms' American Hockey League games, making it the region's largest venue for events. Operators expect the venue will host more than 140 events each year.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, March 28, at www.pplcenter.com.
