The Eagles will be the first performers to put on a show at the PPL Center Sept. 12.

The operators of the soon-to-open PPL Center have announced the first event that will occur in the under-construction arena in Downtown Allentown.

The Eagles will perform Sept. 12 at the venue at the corner of Hamilton and Seventh streets.

"The Eagles are one of the biggest bands in the world, and what a terrific way to open this beautiful new facility," said Global Spectrum's Gunnar Fox, general manager of the PPL Center. "The Eagles will be the first live event in a season-long celebration of this fabulous new arena that will include concerts, sporting events, hockey games, family shows and other special events."

The PPL Center will seat more than 10,000 for concerts and more than 8,500 for Lehigh Valley Phantoms' American Hockey League games, making it the region's largest venue for events. Operators expect the venue will host more than 140 events each year.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, March 28, at www.pplcenter.com.

Don't want to buy tickets without seeing a seating chart of the PPL center. Can anyone help out?

Lincoln Park? Are you serious? Those three combined haven't sold as many records as the Eagles. Nor do they have the appeal or star power.

I don't think sally knows who The Eagles are or their contribution to American music. There (correct usage, sally) couldn't have been a better choice for opening the PPL Center and the Lehigh Valley in general.

Yes, but calling the Eagles an 80's band, and spelling Coldplay as 2 words and Linkin Park like Abe is very entertaining...moron.

Not impressed. Did you try to call Pitbull, Cold Play, or Lincoln Park? So tired of the Lehigh Valley hosting the 80's bands. Seeing 50 and 60 year olds try to pump out there tunes is not entertaining!
