Orefield home designer and builder Brian Baker was recognized by the National Association of Home Builders for excellence in residential green design.
Co-owner and director of marketing and design at Baker Development Group LLC in Orefield, Baker was honored with the NAHBGreen Individual Advocate of the Year Award. Each year, the NAHB recognizes individuals, companies and organizations for excellence in residential green design and construction practices and for green building program and advocacy efforts. The awards were presented last weekend at a gala event at the International Builders' Show in Las Vegas, N.V.
"This is truly a special honor," Baker said. "Although this is technically an individual honor, it is certainly not achieved through a journey experienced alone."
A family-owned and operated business, Baker Development Group performs green residential work in eastern Pennsylvania for new and existing buildings. The company's two divisions are studio26homes, which focuses on new, green custom home construction/architectural design, and Renu Building and Energy Solutions, for green energy solutions in existing homes.
Baker was one of several winners in various categories of the NAHBGreen award and has also received several other awards in the last three years, including the Sustainability Award for Individual Leadership in 2013 by the Delaware Valley Green Building in the Lehigh Valley for his spirit of sustainable design and construction.
"The NAHBGreen Awards represent the best of the best in green building practices and advocacy efforts, and this year's group of winners is particularly impressive," said NAHB Chairman Rick Judson, a home builder from Charlotte, N.C. "The demand for green building is growing exponentially, and these honorees are a great example of what can be accomplished in terms of sustainable and energy-efficient building practices."
