Musikfest contest offers backstage tour, $500 gift card

It's nearing the end of February, and Mother Nature finally has given us a speck of hope that spring is hiding just around the corner.

But as we sit anticipating blue skies, golden rays of sunshine and a cool breeze blowing through our hair, why not start thinking about what activities you're going to be doing this year when the weather finally does break?

One event that hundreds of thousands of people in the Greater Lehigh Valley and beyond anticipate every year is Musikfest. Heading into its 31st year, the nation's largest free music-festival is unveiling a new experience for attendees.

ArtsQuest — which facilitates Musikfest — has partnered with TD Bank to offer the first backstage VIP experience, giving two lucky people the opportunity to hang behind the scenes with their favorite Musikfest artist.

As part of the "TD Bank Musikfest Dream Giveaway Experience," one winner will receive two front-row tickets to the Musikfest 2014 main stage concert of his or her choice, overnight suite accommodations at Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem, a $500 TD Bank Visa gift card and $200 in Musikfest food and beverage tickets.

Making the evening even more memorable will be a guided backstage tour of the Sands Steel Stage, a photograph of the winner on the stage before the concert and the opportunity to meet that evening's performer (pending artist management approval).

Sands Steel Stage artists confirmed so far are Keith Urban, The Moody Blues, The Avett Brothers and Alan Jackson; the other six festival headliners will be announced in the coming weeks.

Anyone interested in entering the contest should stop at one of the nine participating Lehigh Valley branches of TD Bank to request an entry form.

Entries will be accepted through May 2.

For details on how to enter, official rules and TD Bank locations, visit www.musikfest.org.

(Disclosure: The author's band, The Boiled Owls, is scheduled to perform at Musikfest on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Main Street Stage from 5-8 p.m.)
