A new auto dealership is being built at the site of the former Scarlett's gentlemen's club on Lehigh Street in Allentown.

Rob Bennett, dealer principal of Bennett Automotive Group, said the Bennett Infiniti of Allentown dealership, which will include a showroom and service area, should cost about $6 million. The 27,769-square-foot facility will be 30 percent larger than the existing Infiniti dealership on Tilghman Street in Allentown, Bennett said.

NorthStar Construction Management Inc. of Upper Macungie Township is doing a design/build for the facility.

Bennett is not sure what will become of the Tilghman Street site, saying the company has outgrown that location and was looking for more space.

The high traffic on the Lehigh Street Auto Mile proved to be a prime spot for the new dealership, which will employ about 40 people.

"The time is really ideal to make an investment in the Infiniti franchise," Bennett said. "People that are tech-savvy are just so attracted to this product. It bodes well for Bennett [Automotive Group] and also for the area."

Bennett Automotive purchased the Infiniti franchise in 1991, and once this new dealership is complete, Bennett will own five dealerships, including Toyota and Land Rover/Jaguar, he said.

The project is financed through Infiniti Financial Services.

"This coming week, they are going to be putting up the walls and the steel," Bennett said of NorthStar Construction.

NorthStar should be finished with construction by the end of July, Bennett said.

The facility will include a glass front that lights up at night.

"The new design of this building is going to be beautiful," he said.
