The former Westfield Hospital in South Whitehall Township has a new owner and a new name and is set to reveal its new buildings and services when it officially opens next Wednesday.

Lehigh Valley Health Network-Tilghman will open Feb. 5 in the 4800 block of Tilghman Street in Allentown. The campus will include an inpatient orthopedic center, outpatient orthopedic surgical center and an express urgent care facility.

"We know the demand for orthopedic surgeries will continue to grow, especially with the rise of the baby boomer population," said president and CEO Ron Swinfard of Lehigh Valley Health Network, which bought the hospital late last year.

The new campus includes the Center for Orthopedic Medicine-Tilghman in the 4815 building, an inpatient facility focusing on joint replacement and spinal surgery, and also caring for most other orthopedic diagnoses. The center will be open year-round, 24 hours a day.

Within the same building as the orthopedic center, on the ground floor, is an ExpressCARE. The facility provides urgent care services for patients with common illnesses and minor injuries, including sprains, cuts, lacerations and flu symptoms. The facility does not require an appointment and is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.

Also on the campus is the outpatient LVHN Surgical Center in the 4830 building, which is by-appointment only and has three operating rooms, two procedure rooms and two recovery rooms. In addition, the outpatient facility has 22 patient rooms and provides rehabilitation services, diagnostic imaging and laboratory services.

"Our patients have asked us to provide these services in a place that's accessible and convenient, and that's what we've created here," Swinfard said.
