An entrepreneur, health network and transportation authority were honored Tuesday at the annual Lehigh Valley Economic Outlook Awards Luncheon at SteelStacks in Bethlehem.

The awards – presented by the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and Wells Fargo – were given to Lehigh Valley businesses and organizations whose investment of time, talent and money positively impacted quality of life and/or job growth to ensure the success of the region's communities and economy. About 400 Lehigh Valley business leaders and executives attended the event.

The 2014 Community Development award-winners:

• Renowned restaurateur Billy Kounoupis.

• Lehigh Valley Health Network.

• Lehigh Northampton Transportation Authority.

Kounoupis has been growing his restaurant business throughout the Lehigh Valley and has contributed to improving the local economy. He owns Billy's Downtown Diners in Allentown and Bethlehem, with Bethlehem Burger on its way.

Lehigh Valley Health Network, including health clinics, support groups, free or reduced-cost health care and community education, provided a record $326 million in "community benefit" during fiscal year 2013, a 30 percent increase over fiscal 2012.

LANTA has a long history of contributing time, talent and resources to communities, including complimentary transportation in cooperation with American Red Cross, United Way Committee on Aging and Meals on Wheels. LANTA also works with county emergency staff, the 911 Call Center and first responders throughout the Valley, providing transport for emergency events.
