The stadium isn't finished yet and they won't start playing in Allentown until next year, but Lehigh Valley Phantoms merchandise is getting easier for fans to find.
The American Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers affiliate team now has a merchandise kiosk inside the Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall Township. And it seems like the team's ownership is expecting brisk sales at the kiosk.
Team co-owner Rob Brooks said this is the first time the Phantoms have had official team merchandise for sale in the Lehigh Valley. The Phantoms are scheduled to begin play next fall at the PPL Center that is being built at Seventh and Hamilton streets, Allentown.
“We've had very little [merchandise] and it was all online,” he said.
Even with no real promotion of the kiosk, sales have been brisk from people who just dropped by because they were at the mall.
“The fan support we're receiving in the Greater Lehigh Valley region is tremendous,” Brooks said. “Opening season is still 10 months away, and we've already sold 2,600 season tickets. Our fans have been asking us for Lehigh Valley Phantoms team merchandise, so we're thrilled to launch our first local retail outlet for them.”
The Lehigh Valley Phantoms kiosk is near Starbucks on the first floor of the mall, which is at the intersection of Routes 145 and 22. The kiosk will be open during regular mall hours.

The concept was founded in Mobile, Ala., in 1986, and there are more than 800 locations.
