Two of the Greater Lehigh Valley’s largest employers issued solid earnings reports.

PPL Corp. of Allentown reported third quarter earnings of $410 million, or 62 cents per share, as compared to $355 million, or 61 cents per share for the same quarter of 2012.

For the first nine months of 2013, earnings were $432 million, or 66 cents per share, compared to $419 million or 72 cents per share one year ago.

The earnings were negatively affected by a 6 cent per share noncash adjustment of deferred tax assets.

Air Products and Chemicals Inc. of Trexlertown reported net income diluted earnings per share from continuing operations were $150 million and 70 cents, respectively, for its fourth fiscal quarter.

For fiscal 2013, sales of $1.09 trillion increased 6 percent versus the prior year, with acquisitions contributing to the increase.
