Allentown’s newest nightclub is coming with a view. The Wave Nightclub opened on top of the Cosmopolitan Restaurant just off Hamilton Street on Sixth.

Designed to be what co-owner Bill Grube called a “true dance” club, it will be open Friday and Saturday nights.

The design of the club includes a glass-enclosed dedicated dance floor which takes up about half of the two-story club’s space.

Grube said he has high hopes for the top-floor nightclub, which replaces what had been a rooftop lounge.

“This was all open air, which meant it couldn’t be open all of the time because of the weather,” he said.

He had the area enclosed with large windows, maintaining the view of the cityscape surrounding the downtown club.

“With the lights and the view, it’s really something,” he said.

The club intends to cater to the 30 and older crowd with VIP seating areas that reflect what is available in nightclubs in New York or Atlantic City. The VIP areas will offer bottle service.

Manager Seth Parker said the aim is to maintain and build on the Cosmopolitan’s business.

“Optimally, it’s a one-stop shop for your Friday night entertainment. You can have dinner at Cosmopolitan and then come to the Wave for drinks and dancing afterward,” he said.

The bar will have specialty cocktails as well as single-malt scotch, small-batch bourbon and a seasonally rotating selection of draft and bottled beer.

The Wave is on the top floor of the Cosmopolitan at 22 N. Sixth St., Allentown.

A ribbon cutting was held Oct. 12 at a new restaurant on the South Side of Bethlehem. Broadway Social is at 217 Broadway. It is owned by Gregg Salomoni, the former owner of Bellissimo Ristorante in Allentown.

Billed as a gastro pub, Broadway Social has a full menu and bar with micro brew beer and specialty cocktails.

The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley will be getting not one Gap but two. The outdoor lifestyle center in Center Valley has announced a February opening for a Gap, which will be in Suite 412 next to Lucky Brand, and a GapKids, which will be in Suite 103, next to L.L.Bean.

Gap is an American casual apparel brand which was founded in San Francisco in 1969.
