The big changeover to Santander has arrived in Bethlehem.

Sovereign Bank became part of the Santander Group in 2009 and Oct. 17 held a ceremony at its Penn Avenue Branch in Wyomissing to mark the formal name change from Sovereign to Santander bank.

The bank has been in the process of switching over signage on the 700 bank branches and 2,000 ATMs in its service territory.

Today, Oct. 18, crews were working from a cherry picker to change the signage on the 10-store Professional Building at 65 E. Elizabeth Ave. in Bethlehem. Other, smaller signs had been switched to the Santander name or logo prior to the official change.

There will be no changes to personal or business accounts with the change.

While the logo will change on statements, existing checks and ATM cards still will be usable.

The new website for the bank will be www.santanderbank.com, but customers will still be able to access accounts through the old www.sovereignbank.com site.

The Santander brand is represented in its logo by a red flame evoking the initial "S" in Santander.
