Serfass Construction of Allentown said it will break ground Nov. 1 on the first phase of a warehouse and manufacturing facility for Palram Americas of Kutztown.

Matthias Fenstermacher, vice president of pre-construction for Serfass, said the 80,000-square-foot warehouse will be on 12 acres in New Smithville, Weisenberg Township, Lehigh County. Construction on the more than $5 million facility is expected to take six months.

Phase two will also be an 80,000-square-foot structure. No date has been determined for when its construction will begin.

The expansion is expected to allow for Palram's continued international growth.

Palram Industries is a manufacturer and distributor of corrugated thermoplastic sheets, polycarbonate, polyvinyl chloride and other related materials with more than $200 million in annual sales worldwide.

Bethlehem architectural firm Portner & Hetke and Liberty Engineering of Allentown make up the design team on the project.
