The Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. will recognize seven companies and one individual for their outstanding contributions to the economic development of the Lehigh Valley at the 2013 LVEDC Awards next week.
The LVEDC will be honoring National Penn Bank with the 2013 Urban Project of the Year – Commercial for moving its headquarters to Two City Center in Allentown; and Crayola LLC with the 2013 Urban Project of the Year – Industrial for its new distribution center in south Bethlehem.
The LVEDC has also named Green Knight Economic Development Corporation as its 2013 LVEDC Partner of the Year
Michelman Steel Enterprises LLC will be recognized for the 2013 New Business Project of the Year for bringing steel-making back to the Lehigh Valley.
Follett Corp. will be recognized for the 2013 Expansion Project of the Year.
Freshpet has been named 2013 Attraction Project of the Year – Small-Medium Business. The company moved to Lehigh Valley Industrial Park IV in Hanover Township, Northampton County, creating 125 new jobs and transforming the pet food industry in the process.
Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc. will be recognized as the 2013 Attraction Project of the Year – Large Business. It soon will employ 165 people workers in Upper Macungie Township.
The identity of the individual award winner – the "LVEDC Most Valuable Person" – is being kept under wraps and will be announced during the event.
The event is scheduled for 5 p.m. Oct. 16 at Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown.
