The Dow Chemical Co. will be moving 800 jobs to its new research and development facility in Collegeville.

The company cut the ribbon on the new facility, which is owned by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc.

The company's employees currently working at the neighboring Spring House will be moving to the new 800,000-square-foot Northeast Technology Center site. Both facilities are in Montgomery County.

"Establishing operations in Collegeville will allow us to remain competitive in a global market and continue as a major employer in Montgomery County and Pennsylvania," said Andrew N. Liveris, Dow's chairman and CEO.

Dow employs about 2,000 people in the region and generates $1 billion in customer sales annually.
