Merchants Bank is heading to downtown Bethlehem. It will be opening a branch in the Farr building at 2 W. Broad St.
It will be the Bangor-based bank's ninth branch.
Similar to the bank's Easton branch, the new branch will have sit-down customer service and tellers instead of the traditional teller windows, according to Tracey S. Smith, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Merchants.
"We feel delivering individual service in this way is more customer-centric and will enhance the customer experience we consistently deliver," she said.
The building, formerly the home of Farr's shoe store, is being leased from ALT Realty. The upstairs apartments and downstairs retail space were developed by Anthony Scarcia and the Pektor Family.
The bank is the first commercial tenant of the recently redeveloped building.
