A downtown Easton storefront will be getting some fresh paint and fresh fruit.
The Weller Center on Northampton Street is being converted into a home for the Greater Easton Development Partners. It will house offices for the partners, the Easton Farmers Market, the Easton Main Street Initiative and the Easton Ambassadors.
The space also will serve as the home of the farmers market's indoor winter mart, held over the colder months starting in November.
According to Kim Kmetz, manager of the Main Street Initiative, upstairs offices will continue to be leased to the Weller Center but may eventually be converted into shared office space.
She said they also are working toward a goal of developing a food co-op for the site.
She said Jared Mast has just been hired as a project manager to develop the co-op, where the public can purchase fresh food at least several times a week, if not daily. She said Mast began in the position on Monday and details for the co-op project are just starting to come together.
"There's still a lot of planning to be done on that," she said.
