Bright. Colorful. Lively. These words help describe the expanded and redesigned Crayola Experience in Easton. With added attractions that appear more interactive than before, the new site is fairly impressive.

After being closed briefly for expansion and renovation work, the new Crayola Experience reopened in time for Memorial Day. Currently the attraction has about 70 employees (20 full-time and 50 part-time) and will be filling about 20-25 more part-time positions in the near future, according to the company.

With a total of 60,000 square feet and more than 20 attractions, Crayola aims to become a place where children can be creative with their ideas.

Highlights of the new facility include a new Crayola store, a café with Crayola-inspired foods, and activities that include making custom markers from scratch, water table attractions, projected art surfaces and a green screen photo booth.

Boyle Construction of Allentown completed the expansion project, and W2A Design Group, also of Allentown, was the architect on the multimillion project.

As Boyle noted, the project required intense pre-construction planning to work around existing tenants and limited closing dates. Boyle provided construction management services on the project and was responsible for providing cost budgeting and value engineering, procurement schedule and overall project schedule.

Hopefully, the end result will bring more people to Downtown Easton and spur development elsewhere in the city.
