Univest Corp. will officially break ground today on a new corporate banking and pension fund facility.

The facility will be located at 4680 Broadway Road off of Tilghman Street in South Whitehall Township.

The 10,000-square-foot building will take a number of Lehigh Valley-area locations and combine them under one roof.

When it opens, the Souderton-based bank will move 31 employees to the new facility, with plans to add 20 more employees as its financial services expands in the area.

"Constructing and opening a new 10,000-square-foot office space in the heart of the Lehigh Valley shows our commitment to expanding our business and continuing to deliver financial solutions to individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations throughout the region," Jeffrey M. Schweitzer, president and chief operation officer, told Lehigh Valley Business.

The building will not house a consumer banking branch.

The property is owned by Larken Associates of New Jersey. Univest has a long-term lease with the property owner.

The project is expected to cost $2 million
