Lots of developments are happening in Downtown Allentown, and here are just a few.

Recently, the Butz Corporate Center at Ninth and Hamilton streets in Allentown named the first two tenants who will occupy office space in the new, 50,000-square-foot addition.

StoudtPoole PLLC will be the first tenant moving into the new addition in the next few weeks as the building nears final completion, said Butz in a news release. Roberson Butz Architects designed StoudtPoole's 1,000-square-foot office on the second floor in the addition and will include two private offices, a common work area and conference room.

Also, a new eatery will be moving in. Owners of The Deli Plaza 2, Mike Eleshaky and Mohamed Mansour, will be opening Veeny Pizza this summer. The new restaurant, also to be designed by Roberson Butz Architects, will offer hot sandwiches and handmade, healthy thin-crust pizzas with vegetables, mini pizzas, appetizers and desserts.

The Butz Corporate Center (Phase 1) also recently acquired several new tenants, occupying a total of 8,550 square feet of office space. DNV KEMA, an energy and sustainability company, HD Supply, national industrial distributors, and McMahon Associates, transportation engineers and planners, all are leasing office space.

Another new project will begin along the 500 block of Hamilton Street. Here, City Center Lehigh Valley hosted a press conference last week to announce plans to renovate and lease five properties to create a mixed-use development, with loft style office space above and retail and restaurants on the ground floor.

Plus, if you look along Sixth Street, you'll see the beginnings of a new Sixth Street Shelter that Jerdon Construction Services is tackling.

It's clear to see that as buildings are starting to go out and up throughout the downtown, people are moving in.
