Effort Foundry Inc. of Bath, a manufacturer that's been in business for 40 years, is marking its anniversary with an open house today to showcase its newest expansion.
The company makes steel castings for pumps, turbines and valves, with most of its parts used for industrial applications.
At the east end of the Chrisphalt Drive property, the new 9,000-square-foot building will serve as a dedicated space for machining, with an inspection feature that allows customers to view and inspect castings online and in real time, said CEO Charlie Hamburg. This allows customers to see the finished product. Customers also can interact with the quality assurance department.
In addition to offering machining space, the expansion includes areas for heat treat, final blasting and nondestructive testing techniques.
"We are trying to change the paradigms of the foundry, getting leaner," Hamburg said.
The expansion also allows the company to free up space in its existing production facility.
"We are moving processes and equipment from one building to another," said President William Easterly.
The new expansion will open shortly, Hamburg said.
