Serfass Construction of Allentown earned a contract for Lehigh Valley Health Network's Maternal Fetal Medicine project.

Valued at more than $1 million, the 15,000-square-foot medical fit-out will be two stories at 3900 Hamilton Blvd. in South Whitehall Township across from Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom.

The project consists of building two triage rooms, seven ultrasound rooms with multiple exam rooms, and consulting areas, but no delivery rooms, said Matthias Fenstermacher, vice president of Serfass.

The project will be completed in a fast-tracked 75-day schedule. The company is about to start construction but waiting for permits from South Whitehall Township, said Fenstermacher.

"The existing space now has to be completely gutted and rebuilt," said Fenstermacher. About 40 people will be working on the site each day, said Fenstermacher, calling the schedule for the complete fit out as an "aggressive" timetable.

LVHN is the owner of the project but not of the existing building, which is owned by Berger-Epstein Associates Inc. of Allentown, said Fenstermacher. Alliance architecture LLC of Nazareth designed the project.

Other tenants in the building include retail establishments Talbots, Bixler's Jewelers and Swartz Kitchens and Baths Showroom. The building is at the intersection of Route 222 and Interstate 78.
