State environmental council honors two local entities

East Penn Manufacturing Co. Inc. of Lyon Station and The Seed Farm in Emmaus are among 19 organizations being honored for their involvement in 16 environmental projects across the state.

East Penn is being honored for its Ultrabattery technology. The Seed Farm is being honored for its new-farmer training program.

The organizations will receive the 2013 Environmental Excellence Award at a Pennsylvania Environmental Council dinner April 17 in Harrisburg.

This year's honorees included projects ranging from beekeeping to abandoned-mine reclamation.
