Slot revenue in March second best ever in Pennsylvania

While casino slot machine revenue was down slightly over last year, the Pennsylvania Gaming Commission said March revenue still was the second highest since the casinos opened in 2006.

Overall slot revenue from the state's 11 casinos was $229.34 million. That's 1.6 percent lower than March 2012, which had the highest-ever monthly total of $233.15 million.

Sands Casino Resort-Bethlehem trended along with the state totals. It had the third highest revenue with $27.45 million in slot revenue, but was down 2.2 percent from March 2012.

Only the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh saw an increase. It took in $27.44 million, 2.8 percent higher than March 2012.

Overall, the commission, said slot play generated $123.43 million in tax revenue for the state.
