The Da Vinci Science Center of Allentown said that it will be extending its Manufacturing Workforce Initiative as a leading partner of the Manufacturers Resource Center’s new Skill Up Project.

Nearly $300,000 in funding for the Skill Up project was announced by Gov. Tom Corbett last week.

"In leveraging our organization's greatest strengths, we are working to build a pipeline that connects students, teachers, and community members with exciting and innovative manufacturing career opportunities, said Lin Erickson, CEO of the Science Center.

"We also will work to help the industry grow and nurture its future workforce by promoting our region's vibrant scientific activity and engaging 21st century employers today with the talent they will hire tomorrow."

In its role, the center has established regional workforce initiatives as part of its signature experiences.

These initiatives will integrate exhibit experiences with community programming that highlights the needs in workforce development and opportunities in manufacturing.
