Construction is expected to start next month to expand the facilities of one of the Valley's largest pet food and supply distributors and wholesalers.
Phillips Pet Food and Supplies on Hecktown Road in Easton is planning a 74,000-square-foot expansion to its existing warehouse facility.
The new warehouse space will allow for additional storage for the national company, which also has its corporate office in Easton.
Serfass Construction will be the construction management team on the project, which should take about six months to complete, said Kevin Serfass, vice president of Serfass Construction in Allentown.
The project will require substantial site work, including bringing in 70,000 cubic yards of new fill to bring the grade up to match the existing building pad, he said.
Phillips Feed will remain fully operational during construction, Serfass added.
Established in 1938, Phillips Feed has six distribution centers nationwide. Locations include Taunton, Mass.; Indianapolis; Clyde, Ohio; Spartanburg, S.C.; and Plant City, Fla. Phillips serves pet stores, feed and farm stores, groomers, veterinarians, and humane organizations and employs a sales staff of more than 40 individuals.
