After more than 25 years with the organization, Susan Gilmore is resigning from her post as president and CEO of the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, effective May 1.
Gilmore has accepted a new position as executive director of community engagement at FamilyWize, a national company that partners with more than 1,000 United Way chapters in the U.S. The company's goal is to reduce the cost of prescription medication for children, families and individuals.
Gilmore has served as president and CEO of the organization for the last eight years, working closely with area businesses, industries and institutions. In that time, United Way raised more than $80 million during tough economic conditions.
David Lewis, vice president of resource development for the Greater Lehigh Valley United Way, will serve as acting president.
The board will begin a search to permanently fill Gilmore's post.
