Finish Line, which was located in Allentown for 26 years before moving to the Emmaus Triangle five-and-a-half years ago, will have a grand opening Saturday at its new location with its new name.
Now located a few blocks away on the borough's Main Street, the shop will be known as the Emmaus Run Inn.
There were several reasons for the move and name change according to Finish Line owner Christopher Schmidt.
He has partnered with Bob Schwelm, owner of the Bryn Mawr Running Co. and the new space and name gave the store room to grow.
He noted that the new location is about twice the size of the old one, which will allow the partners to bring in more running shoes and apparel. The name change will allow the store to take on Internet sales in the future – as both men would like to do – something they couldn't do before because of an existing Internet running shoe retailer with a similar name.
With the new name will come a new theme, said Schmidt. With the name 'Run Inn' sounding like a play on an old bed and breakfast, he hopes to create an old-fashioned, homey-type atmosphere in the store, but with the latest in running shoe gear.
The Emmaus Run Inn is located at 322 Main St., Emmaus.
