The $150 million investment in Reading HealthConnect is expected to enhance the quality of care and clinical outcomes with a "one patient, one chart" information system throughout its continuum of care.
The hospital said the system will allow for real-time access and updates to records of a patient receiving care whether that patient visits a physician's office, hospital emergency department or a laboratory testing site.
Under the new system, patients also will be able to access their records online through MyChart, a secure personal health record portal available through a computer or mobile device.
The health network's 32-physician practice began using HealthConnect last summer.
