Lehigh Valley Health Network will be featured on the CBS television show, The Doctors, on Wednesday, in an episode about the flu. Lehigh Valley Health Network physicians, staff and patients will appear in the episode.

According to the health network, co-host Jim Sears, M.D., visited Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest on Friday, where a “medical surge tent” is serving as a secondary emergency room for treating patients with flu symptoms and minor injuries.

The Doctors is an Emmy award-winning show that launched in 2008 and airs five days a week. The four doctors who host the show discuss and debate medical issues, including questions and concerns submitted by viewers.

The program featuring Sears’ visit airs locally at 3 p.m. Wednesday on KYW-TV Channel 3, the CBS affiliate in Philadelphia.

It will include interviews with emergency medicine doctor Andrew Miller, D.O.; David Burmeister, D.O., chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine; Terry Burger, R.N., the health network’s director of infection control and prevention; and a patient family, according to a field production assistant who works on the show.
