She is making her fashion designer dreams come true with the official launch of her LM Style Bar line of clothing, which is now being sold there.
The owners discovered the designer when a mutual friend wore one of Midlam's skirts to a hairstyling appointment.
Pop Mart held an official launch party for the new line last night.
Midlam, who has worked in the fashion industry for more than a decade, said the launch of her own line was a long time in coming.
“I worked in the industry knowing that I always wanted to have my own clothing line,” said Midlam. “It gave me the experience in all of the different aspects of the industry.”
She described her clothing line as being high-quality women's wardrobe foundations that are easy to mix and match, but still have detailing that make them stand out as unique.
She launched her online store, www.LMStyleBar.com, in September and began selling at Pop Mart about three weeks ago.
Dave McCormack, a co-owner of the store, said the clothes are already selling “like hotcakes.”
He said sales have been so strong Midlam has had to replenish her stock several times already.
McCormack said he's happy that the store can support a local designer.
“We really do stress that when people ask. We tell them that it's a local designer and that the construction is tremendous,” he said.
Midlam said she's gotten a great deal of local support in the launch of her clothing line. She noted that 401 Creative of Allentown handled the photo shoot of her clothing line, with models posing at the new STEPS building at Lehigh University in Bethlehem.
