Meals on Wheels of Northampton County will be participating in the 9th annual Highmark For a Healthy Community Walk as sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield on Sat June 15, 2013. Meals On Wheels is seeking sponsors and walkers for this event. All proceeds raised by Meals On Wheels will help to support the Meal Subsidy Program to subsidize the cost of meals for 90% of our seniors who are low income, most living on social security or less. This past year we served approximately 1,400 seniors and prepared over 470, 000 meals. We currently subsidize each meals we prepare at $1.19 per meal for a total cost of $600,000 representing 26% of our operating budget.
